Her professional experience included providing public accounting services for over twenty-five years. As a Certified Public Accountant, she worked closely with clients to help them meet their accounting needs and organize their business information to provide management data essential to effective management decisions. Much of Elder Brice's experience in public practice focused on non-profit organizations, churches, and small business development. Prior to going into private practice, she managed a five-office pediatric practice with a $1.8 million annual budget. She also served as the Treasurer for one of the leading combined charities in the metropolitan area.
Elder Brice received her Master of Divinity from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology in May 2002 and later returned to receive her Doctorate of Ministry in May 2011. For all of her accomplishments, she extends all credit to her Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.
Her favorite scripture, as recorded in Isaiah 40:31, “but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint,” is the essence of her determination to stand on the promises of God.
Reverend Dr. Vanetta L. Brice, a native of Washington, D.C. and a graduate of the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology, is married to Kenneth Brice. Together, they have two sons (one deceased), three daughters (one deceased) and eighteen grandchildren. On April 17, 2026, Bishop Harry L. Seawright appointed Dr. Brice to serve as the Presiding Elder of the Potomac District in the Washington Conference. Prior to her assignment, she served as the Pastor for the First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Gaithersburg, Maryland where the church is known for being the miracle in Gaithersburg for seven years and to St. John African Methodist Episcopal in Hughesville, Maryland for five years.
Elder Brice served as the Treasurer for the Second Episcopal District and the Washington Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church for ten years. She has served as the Washington Conference Coordinator for Women in Ministry, the Potomac District Coordinator for Women in Ministry and as the statistician for the Washington Conference. Much of her ministry has encompassed confronting the issues of the heart. While working on her doctoral degree, she worked with the Daughters of Faith, at Reid Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church and with the youth at Bethany African Methodist Episcopal Church in Capital Heights, Maryland. During this time, Elder Brice worked to facilitate dialogue between the youth while also providing a safe space for reflective communication.
